An 18th Century, Louis XV period Arc-En-Arbalète, Giltwood Console Table. Circa 1740-1745
The ‘Terre de Sienne’, Arc-en-Arbalète-shaped (Crossbow Shape) marble top, above a symmetrical pierced foliate and acanthus-carved frieze, with C-scrolls and a central Rococo-shell cartouche, flanked by scrolled and foliate sprays. On conforming C-scrolled, hipped, fretted, cabriole legs, headed with foliate sprays, joined by a conforming C-scrolled, foliate carved stretcher centered by a foliage and a central Rococo-shell cartouche, terminating on scrolled feet.
