A Private collection of 18th and 19th Century Louis XV Period Gitlwood Console Tables
An 18th Century, Louis XV Period, Arc-En-Arbalète Giltwood Console Table. Circa 1740 – 1750
The mouluré d’ un bec de corbin, arc-en-arbalète-fronted ( Crossbow Shape ) marble top with moulded edge, above an asymmetrical pierced foliate and acanthus-carved frieze, with a central cartouche, flanked by C-scrolls and foliate sprays. On four, conforming C-scrolled, hipped cabriole legs, headed with foliate scrolls. The centre joined by a conforming scrolled, foliate carved stretcher centred by a foliage and acanthus-carved cartouche, terminating on scrolled feet.
