A Louis XIV Giltwood Salon Suite. Circa 1840
The canape and 2 fauteuils, with rectangular back and arched top, upholstered in close nail, with a Claret silk velvet fabric. The moulded upright arm’ supports, carved with foliage, shells, husks and acanthus, the shaped arms decorated with foliage, garlands of flowers and acanthus leaves, the carved arm supports decorated with foliage and gadroons, on carved legs decorated with husks-carved scrolls, shells and acanthus leaves joined by S-scrolled X-shaped stretcher, centred by an urn finial, terminating on shaped foliate-wrapped feet.
