A Louis XV Buffet Deux Corps De Mariage, Normandy 19th Century. Circa 1810

Made of solid oak, the oregin of this buffet is attested by the presence of the shaped cornice, traditional of Normandy. The shaped cornice, decorated with fine carvings of C scrolled foliate motifs, above a richly carved outsized bouquet of Spring flowers and seasonal fruit, traditionally symbolic of marriage.

The four doors and shaped apron, decorated with high relief bouquets of flowers and foliate motifs, The center panels of the doors and side reliefs are decorated with fluted wheat stalks, symbolic of prosperity.
Fitted with bronze cast escutcheons, on short conforming foliate scrolling feet
