Anton Venoir Interiors Collection of 18th Century Louis XV, Solid Walnut, Finely Carved Armoires

18th Century, Louis XV Chapeau de Gendarme Armoire. Circa 1745

Made of solid walnut, the oregin of this Armoire is attested by the presence of the “Chapeau de Gendarme” shaped cornice, traditional of Sth Provence, Avignon region. The shaped cornice, above decorated pediment of  fine carvings of C scrolled foliate motifs and richly carved outsized bouquet of Spring flowers and foliate motifes, traditional to the region.

The two doors each with three C scrolled carved panels and shaped apron, decorated with high relief bouquets of flowers and foliate motifs, The center panels of the doors and plinth decorated with foliate motifes centere by a roccoco carved shell.
Fitted with iron cast hinges and bronze cast escutcheons, on conforming foliate feet
