A Louis XIV Giltwood Fauteuil. 19th Century. Circa 1860
The rectangular back with arched top and seat, upholstered in close nail, with foliate patterned blue cut silk Damask fabric. The moulded uprights carved with foliage, the shaped arms decorated with shells, husks and acanthus, the arm’ supports decorated with foliage and gadroons, the seatrail centred with a cartouche flanked by foliage and garlands of flowers on a hatched ground, on carved legs decorated with husks-carved scrolls, shells and acanthus leaves joined by Vitruvian-scrolled X- shaped stretcher, centred by an urn finial.
