An 18th Century Louis Xv, Vernis Martin Cartel, signed F. Lesage a Paris. Circa 1785-1790

The waisted case with scrolling foliate mounts and decorated with flowers on olive-green background, the top surmounted by pierced foliate scrolls,  foliate scroll mounts to edges and surrounding the aperture to base, pierced foliage to side panels, the the gilt-bronze dial inset with Roman enamel hour plaques and Arabic five minutes, signed to centre F. LESAGE A PARIS, blued-steel hands, the twin barrel movement with rectangular plates and strike on bell, Apollo mask pendulum.

François Lesage: F. Lesage A Paris, was received as Maître Horologer in 1790-1796
F. Lesage A Paris workshop: 91 Rue Hamelot Truffaut in Paris and was clockmaker to the Emperor Napoleon III.
