Anton Venoir Interiors A Private collection of 18th century Louis XV, Regence Period, Boulle Marquetry Clocks.

An 18th Century Louis Xv Boulle Cartel D’applique et Console de Forme Violonee, signed “Saint Martin A Paris”. Circa 1715-1739

The waisted case of VIOLIN form, with tortoise shell and fine foliate brass inlay, surmounted by a figure of putto holding a flag, embellishments with bronze foliate ormolu and C-scrolled mounts to the sides, door and bracket, on vitruvian scrolled foliate feet. The circular ormolu dial, with individual white enamel Roman cartouche chapters, original cut steel hands, signed ‘ SAINT MARTIN A PARIS’ on an enamel plaque below, the movement with rectangular plates joined by vase shaped back-pinned pillars, with twin barrel and verge escapement with silk suspension, with calibrated count wheels and strike on bell above, the back plate signed ‘SAINT MARTIN A PARIS’ with door key, winding key.

Antoine Saint MARTIN:  was received as Maître Horologer (Master clockmaker) in 1739
