A French Louis XVI Giltwood Salon Suite, En Corbeille. 19th Century. Circa 1860

Comprising four fauteuils and a canapé en corbeille, the channelled ribbon-berry carved frames centred to a foliate and acanthus spray cartouche, the padded armrest, on Vitruvian scroll shaped supports with acanthus leaves, with reeded and leaf-and-berry seat-rails, above tapering fluted legs, headed by square foliate paterae and terminating toupee feet, upholsterd in a rich silk brocade fabric.

The fauteuils: 38½ in. (98 cm.) high; 24½ in. (62 cm.) wide
